Welcome to hypnolinks of Nottingham blogs !

Hypnotherapy is such a powerful, natural and empowering therapy and provides such positive benefits for
individuals that I thought I would like to share some of this with you.

I am often asked what hypnosis is about and how it works so I thought that I would use this blog to explore this
 a little  further.

Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state of mind...if you have ever found yourself driving and wondering how you
got to your destination ...or you have been reading a book that you are so engrossed in ..or just daydreaming
when you should have been concentrating on something else ...that's  being in a light hypnotic state. Much of
the work that we do as hypnotherapists can be achieved at this sort of level of consciousness.

What's happening here is that we are allowing ourselves to drift from the conscious part of  our mind to the
subconscious  part of our mind. It's all perfectly natural, we all do this hundreds of times a day! I have attached
a small diagram just to demonstrate what happens in these parts of the mind.

When I am working with clients I help them to achieve a state where they are so relaxed but very focused so we
can work together to influence the subconscious mind as this is where positive changes can be made to the
challenges that a client may be facing.

The client is always in control, can hear everything around them and can come out of trance whenever they
 should wish to do so!

The subconscious mind 'holds' all the lasting memories that we have eg , habits, views, behaviours , prejudices ,
long standing fears and phobias and it is the negative ones of these that usually hold individuals back from being
who they really want to be or from achieving what they really want to achieve.

With this focused relaxation (hypnosis )  so much can be achieved by the client with the guidance and facilitation
provided by the hypnotherapist....and many of these negative barriers can be addressed ensuring that the client
can work towards those positive goals that they want to achieve. Focusing on the underlying and negative issues
is important as these are often the real barriers to success.

In another of my blogs I will address benefits of hypnotherapy and how it can help you take more control of your
 life.

what hypnotherapy can do for you!

People often ask me what hypnotherapy can do for them and what problems it can help with.

I think that they are surprised sometimes when I explain that we work together on finding their own inner
strengths and capabilities so that they can make the positive changes in their life that they want to. I think
sometimes that there is an expectation that I am going to perform some 'magic' and all anxieties will 'disappear'
 and all other issues 'resolved'!

I think some of these views come from having seen stage hypnosis performances where the drama of the event
gives the impression that the volunteers that take part have no control over what they are doing and ideas and
thoughts are 'planted' in their heads!!

This is not the hypnosis that I am taking about!

In the last blog I mentioned the subconscious mind as the part of the mind that we can influence to make
positive and beneficial changes to the challenges faced in everyday life..and that's where hypnotherapists can
 help!

During that state of hypnosis (focused relaxation ) we work together to influence your subconscious mind so that
we can work on the issues that are eg  stopping you reach your real potential, creating barriers to 'letting go' of      negative habits  . Doing this work together gives so many benefits and opens up the mind to so many possibilities . In this              blog I'll just give a few examples...

  • it helps to empower individuals to gain an insight into their challenges and helps them develop coping strategies

  • helps to change or release unwanted behaviours and patterns
  • helps increase self esteem, optimism and confidence
  • helps reduce day to day anxiety, tension and stress

These are just a few of the many beneficial changes that can happen and I will highlight more in future blogs...

There are so many problems  and issues that hypnotherapy can help with and I will also cover these more in
future blogs ,but just to mention a few .......

  • managing IBS
  • Controlling pain and painful conditions
  • boosting confidence and reducing anxiety, stress and tension
  • overcoming fears and phobias
  • managing weight including virtual gastric band and balloon
  • stopping smoking

....."we all have amazing inner strengths, creativity and capabilities for making positive change......
hypnotherapists are there to help you unlock all that potential"

Hypnosis can lessen your stress

Becoming free from stress is quite possible through a hypnotic approach

Many of us are no strangers to stress, and stress related illnesses plague society these days. Numerous of us are unlucky enough to encounter the effects of it frequently. Holiday times like now should be fun and happy occasions but for many people they also come with stress! Summer exams are looming and many individuals and families will be affected by the outcomes of these!

Hypnotherapy treatments can be a good tool in combating this emotion.

Each person could have different triggers - and not everyone is affected by the same things to the same degree. Sometimes we don’t even grasp that worry has affected us until something changes the balance and we suddenly snap under the pressure. Very few people can breeze through life stress free; however, most of us can handle a reasonable amount of stress without our health and wellness being unduly impacted.

Some signs that you may be having difficulty handling stress are: feeling overwhelmed or unable to focus, lack of sleep or disturbed sleep, feeling jumpy, being easily irritated, being mentally irrational and snapping at the slightest thing.

There are also physical symptoms you may experience. Drinking, smoking tobacco or overeating may be bad habits you begin to turn to, or you may begin to have some gut reactions. If stress begins to take over it can normally lead to chronic anxious feelings or depression if not dealt with.

If you realise stress is starting to affect your life negatively and you are struggling to cope, it may be that hypnotherapy could be the help you're looking for.

Hypnotherapy may help treat short term stress efficiently in a natural way. If you are aware an event is coming up that might cause you stress, hypnotherapy strategies help you prepare for it and learn how to manage it effectively.

As an example if you are attending job interviews and find the stress is affecting your performance, there is lots of ways hypnotherapy may help. Hypnotherapy processes are ordinarily associated with relaxation, which means that the very act of hypnosis could allow your stress levels to be diminished without any other intervention. Treatment generally depends on teaching you how to cope and tackle stress long term. You may learn how to have a strong and empowered mind permitting you to have the confidence to tackle the stress head on.

Long term stress can also be helped using hypnotherapy. Left unattended, the continual effects of this problem can spoil a person's life. The experienced hypnotherapist could sometimes make it easier to find the underlying cause of the problem before helping you learn how to deal with the stress.

This is an empowering course of action, because not only are you able to discover why you happen to be affected by the signs and symptoms for so long but most significantly you might learn how to keep it in check and tackle it yourself.
